WHO IS EMBER GARDENS?

Ember Gardens is a group of passionate farmers and cannabis professionals, all born and raised in Massachusetts. They are legacy operators, some who have served time for cannabis, and others who have been directly affected by the War on Drugs. Ember Gardens is proud to be part of the Massachusetts Social Equity Program and a Boston Equity business.

The EG team has a deep understanding of the unique nature of the cannabis industry through years of experience in the West Coast medical markets and extensive work in the highly regulated Massachusetts medical and adult-use markets since inception. They are dedicated to organic and regenerative farming practices through no-till organic farming methods and pride themselves on natural manufacturing techniques such as ice-water hash and other solventless extractions and infusions, all which produce high quality, clean products that you can trust.

Regenerative Farming

Regenerative organic agriculture is a practice that benefits the biodiversity in the soil, enhances carbon drawdown, and improves the overall water cycles within our ecosystem. These practices have been proven to be the most holistic form of land management improving photosynthesis within plants which is a key element in the closure of the carbon cycle, increasing crop resilience, and promoting the biodiversity within the soil and increasing nutrient density.

These holistic farming practices have been proven in scientific studies to lower the levels of CO2 in the surrounding atmosphere in some studies up to nine percent per acre. The carbon once removed from the air through the leaves of the plants is returned to the soil where it belongs. By implementing no-till organic regenerative farming techniques at our cultivation site, we hope to start to help reverse the devastating effects that traditional monocrop agriculture has had on farmland across the world.

The use of regenerative agriculture on any scale is a game changer in shifting us out of this unsustainable cycle, building healthy soil for healthy produce, and for a more holistic and healthy future for farmers and their consumers.

OUR MISSION…

Regenerative organic agriculture is a practice that benefits the biodiversity in the s

  • To provide high quality, safe, and organic cannabis products for the Massachusetts market through organic no-till farming practices and solventless extraction and infusion techniques.

  • To support our communities by providing preferential hiring for local jobs, community support, education, training, mentorship, and donations.

  • To support the Massachusetts Social Equity and Economic Empowerment programs. We plan to offer internships, mentorship, and any other support we can as major proponents of these programs.

  • To support scientific research on PTSD, chronic pain, sleep, and other cannabis-related scientific and medical studies through partner organizations.

  • To support local, small businesses in the cannabis industry. We will be supporting the smaller ‘mom & pop’ shops, legacy operators, and social equity and economic empowerment candidates through featuring these businesses in our stores and partnerships. Our shops will be filled with products from like-minded local businesses doing things right within the cannabis industry.

“Education is the way forward.”

Cannabis businesses can positively impact our surrounding communities by giving back to groups like veterans, minorities and those adversely affected by the war on drugs. Ember Gardens plans to help lead the way through building a positive relationship with these groups and the community. Education is the way forward for the cannabis industry. To raise awareness of the great potential of this plant, we are dedicated to creating a safe market and equal opportunity for consumers, farmers, and the environment.

OUR CURRENT PROJECTS…

New Bedford Retail & Manufacturing

At an ideal location near the center of the city, we hope to open one of the first recreational dispensaries in this hub of the South Coast. The site has potential to become our first product manufacturing location which would be where we produce various natural extracts and edibles. We anticipate the retail location to be open sometime in early 2022 with the product manufacturing license not far behind.

Middleboro Home Delivery

The CCC, in its journey to create an equitable cannabis industry, started the Social Equity and Economic Empowerment programs in an effort to support people most impacted by the War on Drugs, marijuana prohibition, disproportionate arrests and incarceration. Along with education and training, a part of the program benefits gave an exclusivity period for up to 3 years for these participants of the program to apply and operate delivery licenses.

We have applied for the provisional license immediately upon the opening of this license type and expect to be in the first few licenses issued. We hope to be operational in February of 2022. The delivery site is planned in the heart of southeastern Massachusetts, serving the cities of Taunton, Plymouth, Fall River, New Bedford, Brockton and more.

Newbury St. Boston Retail

In 2020, at the height of the global pandemic, our startup business had the opportunity to attempt to open a recreational retail cannabis location on Newbury Street in the heart of Boston. As a small, local business, this would be a lifelong dream come true. Partnering with Joseph Hoffman, a longtime friend, lifetime Boston city resident, and fellow equity applicant, we joined forces and worked together towards developing a robust plan and proposal.

With a focus on gathering local support, we attained over 250 signatures from Back Bay neighborhood residents, over 700 signatures from Boston city residents, and even the support of the mayor’s office and a local state senator. We also set up a business loyalty program with other nearby small businesses on and around Newbury Street in order to become more immersed in the community. We worked with traffic engineers and architects to plan for vehicle pickups and deliveries and will continue to work with the city and the neighborhood to address their concerns.

At this location, our goal is to hire 100% Boston residents, 50% Women & Minorities, and 33% with prior criminal records with additional preferential hiring for those who qualify as veterans, have disabilities, immigrants, or those that identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Employee compensation packages will include profit-sharing, healthcare, transit subsidies, and much more. We also have plans to host interns, provide scholarships, conduct bi-annual neighborhood cleanups, and sponsor local drug prevention and rehabilitation education.

In February 2020 we received an unanimous vote of approval from the Boston Cannabis Board to move forward. We are now working with the state’s CCC and the city on the next steps.

Orleans Cape Cod Retail

Cape Cod is an iconic Massachusetts destination – our location is directly on 6A across from the Stop & Shop with a parking lot that overlooks the ocean. This location will be custom built from the ground up to ensure an amazing customer experience. We hope to be open this location late Summer or Fall of 2022.

Future Greenhouse Cultivation Site

At Ember Gardens we know that this industry is agriculture at its core and that it all starts with the plant. We believe the best way to grow cannabis is with the sun in a wide-open space, and we plan to build out a large greenhouse farm focused on our vision of no-till regenerative agriculture. Our company is in the process of searching for the ideal location to institute our methods and we are excited to bring some AAA organic greenhouse cannabis to the Massachusetts market.
